Pacific 9 drivers’ strike enters 14th week and faces over $6 million in wage claims
Pacific 9 Transportation drivers have begun the 14th week of their indefinite Unfair Labor Practice strike. Picketing by drivers and their supporters have impacted marine terminals operations that have allowed Pac 9 trucks through their gates when there has been active picketing. After the beginning of this latest strike, the California Department of Labor Standards and Enforcement (DLSE) held hearings for wage and hour claims filed from 38 Pac 9 drivers. The total potential financial damages from these claims is estimated at over $6 million. Pac 9 failed in its attempt to halt these hearings by compelling the drivers into arbitration. This was the second time Pac 9 has failed in its effort to avoid DLSE hearings from proceeding.
